Sunflower Seeds

After recently experimenting with form and scale with a recent university project (to be un-veiled on my university blog tomorrow) I decided to do some much needed researching into the subject of large scale art.
After scouring through youtube for a couple of hours I remembered the new exhibition piece by Ai Weiwei which has been currently in the news (mainly about the oh so shocking health risks attached to the work).
This amazing piece of interactive art spans 1000 square metres of the turbine hall and holds 100 million individual handmade porcelain sunflower seeds meant to show the shear volume of the chinese population. If you look at the very well shot video that I found on youtube you will be able to see, hear and feel the dedicated craft and tranquil atmosphere that has gone into the work to make the piece.
I will definitely be taking a visit soon and will update this post with some of my own images when I do.
